Embarrassed, much?
When I get embarrassed for other people, my eyes water in mute empathy with what they are going through. Much to Your Chagrin: A Memoir of Embarrassment, a debut work by Suzanne Guillette, was a book that brought tears of embarrassment to my eyes several times. Guillette, a recent MFA grad who lacks a direction in her life after leaving school and ending a long-term relationship, starts collecting embarrassing stories from friends and strangers for a book called Oh Shit!

Good Mileage: How to Beat a Recession at Vive La Femme
“It was one percent intuition and ninety-nine percent luck,” admits Vive La Femme owner Stephanie Sack, about her decision to lower the prices at her boutique about eighteen months ago. By Design: Sunday Brunch Chic
Coco Irene is not a woman, though if she were, you would definitely want to be her friend. She would be unfussy and down-to-earth yet with a feminine style and grace. She would watch old movies with you, “ooh” and “aah” at your new pedicure color and help you move your sofa (but only if you asked nicely). She would be one of your best girlfriends.

Book review: Stunt, By Claudia Dey
Eugenia Ledoux, the nine-year-old protagonist of Dey’s debut novel, fancies herself a tightrope walker, which turns out to be the least interesting thing about her. Eugenia also has synesthesia, a condition that jumbles her senses, causing her to experience light as sound, taste as touch, and so on.

Open for Business: Forever Fabulous
When you think high fashion, Forever 21 isn’t exactly what pops into your head. But the new flagship store at 540 North Michigan may change your mind. The huge location is sleek, shiny, sophisticated and stocked with the latest colorful gear from Forever 21’s newest collection. The grand opening of this behemoth was celebrated in fittingly grand style with a runway show, featuring models from Elite Model Management, and was attended by contestants of “America’s Next Top Model,” giving the event a Hollywood vibe. There was a red carpet to strut, style consultants on hand to give advice, and great music pumping through the speakers.
